Curatorial note

Hearts Grid I is the most reduced statement in the grid works. The heart is stripped of supporting iconography and repeated as a single emblem across nine cells. Thick outlines and flat colour make the form almost logo-like, while patterned grounds continually alter its visual pressure.

The apparent simplicity is methodological. By repeating the most culturally saturated emotional sign available, the work asks how much meaning survives standardisation. The answer is paradoxical: the heart becomes more impersonal as a symbol and more specific through each chromatic variation.
